Leaves and Leggings

Thursday, October 11, 2018

The last week or so has been fairly chilly here in Wyoming with temps in the 40s or 50s most days. I've spent a lot of time inside, cuddling with my service dog Tilly. (I promise you will meet her soon.) It's been a good opportunity to wear some more of my Halloween leggings. The leaves are about done changing. It won't be long until they fall. We woke up to a skiff of snow this morning. It's normal for around here, and should warm up again, but it's too early for me. I took these photos of the trees in my yard last week. There is so much beauty right around me. I'm trying to enjoy every moment of it that I can before winter comes.
Love,
Quincy.

Pumpkin Pal

Thursday, October 4, 2018

So today the other day they had these cute mini pumpkins at the grocery store for $1 so I grabbed a few to play around with because I couldn't leave without them. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, but I decided to draw a face on one that expressed how I feel about this time of year. It turned out kind of boring though so I dug through my paper scraps and made a little witch had to stick on the stem. It isn't anything special, but it's cute, and killed an hour of boredom this afternoon.

October 3rd... On the 4th.

So going into this challenge of blogging every single day this month, I knew there would be times I would slip up. Life happens, we get tired, busy, we forget, or we are just lazy. I thought I'd be able to make it past day three though. Oh well. Here it is now.
Ever since I was a little girl, one of my absolute favorite meals on a chilly day has been grilled cheese and tomato soup. Now back when I was a kid, that consisted of a can of Campbell's heated on the stove and a slice of those processed Kraft american slices in the plastic folded packages.
As an adult, I still love this meal, but I have upped my game. My favorite grilled cheese consists of muenster and colby jack cheeses (and sometimes pepper jack if I'm feeling fiesty), ultra thin sliced smoked turkey and honey ham, and fresh basil. The secret is to pick the right bread. When you load up a sandwich like this you have to have a thick cut bread to balance. My go to is Texas toast.
I still for the most part cheat on the tomato soup, especially if I'm throwing this together as a quick and easy "I don't feel like cooking" meal. I typically choose a canned tomato soup that has basil, or is a "gourmet" variety. I always add extra fresh basil, sometimes milk or cream, extra canned or fresh diced tomatoes.
This is just a perfect fall, cooler weather meal. What are your favorite meals for this time of year?

October Bucket List

Tuesday, October 2, 2018

Today I haven't really been feeling well, but I couldn't put an October day to waste. I'm currently working on beading a necklace as a last minute detail on my Halloween costume, but you won't know about that until later this month. Here in Wyoming we don't typically get a true fall season. It is either warm, or snowing. October is the one true time where we take advantage of as many of the fall days as we can get. To make that easier, and since I didn't feel up feel up to much else, today I made a sort of checklist of some of the things I'd like to do before we get snow. I give you... My October Bucket List.

The Best Month of the Year.

Monday, October 1, 2018

Today, October first, marks the start of my favorite month of the year. There is so much to love about the month of October. The weather has cooled down, and the leaves are changing colors. We get to pull out our favorite cozy clothes and snuggle up to the feeling of home. The season brings fun holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving, amazing food, and so many other things to love. Because it is officially my favorite month of the year, I'm starting my very first blog series called "Hello October." Each day this month I will be posting various things I love about October.
So to kick things off today, I broke out my collection of Halloween leggings and chose a pair with cute little trick or treaters that remind me of Where the Wild Things Are. I also spent this morning doodling one of my favorite quotes, from one of my favorite characters, to get me into the October mood.
Stay tuned to see what tomorrow brings, because believe me, we are just getting started!
